This documentary called 'Bomb It' is an insight into the graffiti art movement and gives us an insight into why the artists do what they do. It will be the main influence for my work as i am going to make a short documentary on Graffiti, following round a couple of artists to get an insight into why they do it. From watching this documentary it becomes clear that the graffiti artists are all on a mission. The mission is different for each writer, some set out to just destroy things, some are on a mission to show the problems in the world through their artwork and some see it as a way to express them selves. By applying psychoanalytical theories to the graffiti writers i can see that their "missing piece" is completing their mission and in some cases it will never end which again shows Lacan's "Big O" theory works on graffiti writers. Through out this documentary you get a really deep understanding into the mind scapes of the artists and their backgrounds in the cities they live which also gives other reasons into why they have the desire to paint on walls e.g a couple of artists in South Africa started painting on walls because of the apartheid, this shows how there is a lot more going on then just wanting to vandalise.
